SHANTALL UNIVERSE

SHANTALL is an international brand of Latin American roots, built on the foundations of Mesoamerican heritage, late-twentieth-century pop culture, sharp tailoring, and fun color combinations by Nicaraguan designer Shantall Lacayo.

Born in 2010, the brand has been committed to raising awareness of the beauty and history of Latin American makers, without compromising the designer’s curiosity for modernity, art, and her own sense of nostalgia.

Lacayo recalls being surrounded by art from a young age, she was raised by her mother, Lauren Lacayo, who owned an Art Gallery: “Museo-Galería Génesis”, that supported mainly Nicaraguan artists. Her father is a painter, and his style is still an important influence in SHANTALL’s prints.

Every piece is designed by Lacayo and built by a team of talented women that work in the company’s small workshop in Managua. The brand works with local experienced artisans that have been part of the team for years to build unique pieces like wooden buttons and embellishments.

Some of the brand's recent achievements include winning the 19th edition of Project Runway. SHANTALL has been featured in magazines and international media such as ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar Argentina, Vogue Mexico & Latin America, Revista Siempre Mujer New York, Forbes, Nexos de AA, Vanidades, Hola.com‬, Univisión, El Nuevo Herald, Diario Las Américas, E! Entertainment Television Latin America, HOLA! TV, Glamour México, People en español, among others.
